More Than Just Clothes!

When most people think of updating their current wardrobe especially as the new school year approaches, clothes and shoes are the first thing to come to mind. But here at MODA, we want to remind you that jewelry has the potential to easily spruce up your outfits! They can add that perfect finishing touch or be a statement piece to a simple look. If you're like me and definitely needed some inspiration for my jewelry collection, check out some rising and current jewelry trends down below!

1. Chokers

With the revival of 90's fashion, you can't forget chokers. However, as much as I love this trend, I actually really dislike the ones made of plastic because it's too childlike. But nowadays, many designers have come up with really unique ways to update this retro look through new materials like leather and velvet. Chokers also come in a variety of different widths, so it's easy to have the necklace either be a statement or minimalistic piece.

2. Tassel/Fringe Jewelry

Tasseled and fringed jewelry is becoming increasing popular these days as they have a perfect combination of sass yet elegance! You'll see from the Fall 2016 runways that designers like Tory Burch and Tod's have incorporated tassels in their looks. What I love about this trend is that the design allows there to be movement within the outfit. Whether you turn your head or let the Chicago wind take control, these jewelry will definitely catch someone's attention. I recently bought a bunch of tasseled earrings and I think they add such a chic element to the look. Also, I've seen tassels come in beads or string allowing for more variation.

3. Ear Cuffs and Crawlers

For the longest time I didn't pierce my ears. Not because I was afraid, but mostly, I was just too scared of getting an infection. If you're someone who doesn't want to pierce their ears but wants to add some attention, try ear cuffs! Normally, ear cuffs are easy to just hook around the top part of your ear, adding a charming touch. Ear cuffs can be both loud or quiet depending on the design. If your ears are pierced, definitely try crawlers because they won't tangle with your hair and add a nice flair to your outfit.

4. Mismatched Earrings

Mismatched earrings are slowly gaining traction in the fashion world. I personally own many pairs of mismatched earrings, because the imbalance between the two make people around you look twice. It adds a whimsical touch to your look that is so much fun. Also, many stores sells studs in a pack which gives you so much freedom to mix and match but allow you to stay in the same color scheme and design scheme.
