Saying Goodbye to Girls
I don't know about you, but I have been an avid fan of the popular Emmy-winning show Girls ever since it came out. Now that the last season has come and gone, I think it is truly time to reflect on the horrible, hilarious and truly ridiculous girls of Girls and how much the public has buzzed over Lena Dunham's work.
Though the show itself has had numerous flaws (much like its controversial writer, Lena Dunham), like virtually no inclusion of non-white actors, it has also had a poignant take on what it is like to be a clueless twenty-something. The show has tackled issues such as sexual assault, feminism, and abortion, making it a pretty novel show in terms of the blitheness with which it approaches these issues.
The girls of Girls have changed immeasurably in the show's run, but have also remained fundamentally the same: selfish, entitled, immature, but still very amusing to watch. One thing is for sure: I will miss this show and all of its drama!
Watch Girls on HBO.
