Erdem X H&M Preview
H&M has been elevating what fast fashion can be through their collaborations with fashion designers around the world. They first started in 2004 with Karl Lagerfeld and have continued to feature 15 other designers since like Kenzo and Versace, making higher end brands both more accessible and wearable.
The latest fashion house to collaborate with H&M is none other than Erdem. For those of you who don't know who Erdem is, MODA has got you covered. A London-based label, Erdem is headed by designer Erdem Moralioglu. Erdem studied fashion at the Royal College of Art in London and soon to become one of the fashion world's hottest designers. His pieces, exquisitely crafted and fraught with detail, are loved by stars like Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman and even royalty like Kate Middleton.
The teaser for the collaboration was shot by filmmaker Baz Luhrmann known for his highly colorful and spirited films like Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge! His role in the project highlights the Swedish's brand to explore fashion's intersectionality with other art mediums like film, proving to become a more dynamic and multi-faceted brand.
The full collection hasn't been released yet but what can fans expect? Erdem suggests watching the video by Bruce Weber for the Pet Shop Boys song Being Boring. "It’s about a group of young people at a country house mansion. It’s that idea of a country getaway with boys and girls dressing up and playing with their look, with girls in ball gowns and sneakers, and also sharing a wardrobe with guys.” Through this collection, Erdem creates looks that are "between something decidedly dressed-up and equally effortless.”
Watch the teaser below! The Erdem X H&M Collection will be available in store and online starting November 2, so make sure you mark your calendars, as the pieces will definitely fly off the racks.
