Brands to Know: Sulvam
Greetings from Louisville, Kentucky!
I'm in the middle of a road trip right now, and some hardcore online shopping is the only way I am staying sane. And it was here, in my namesake city whose most famous attraction is a fast food conglomerate (I feel like this must be a bad omen for me) that I discovered Sulvam.
Founded by Japanese designer Teppei Fujita, Sulvam debuted in Japan with an A/W 2014 collection. The brand won the TFA back in 2015, and was shortlisted for the LVMH prize last year.

Sulvam is focused on deconstructed, asexual pieces. There is just one relatively gender-neutral collection each season, and you won't find any hemlines or clean cuts. Instead, each piece is left to its own devices. Paired with the formal classics that act as Fujita's inspiration, every Sulvam collection skillfully combines business with casual.

Over the last four years, Sulvam has grown and evolved immensley (as a quick scroll through their collections will show you). Where they'll go next, I truly can't say. But I sure as hell am excited to find out! This is a brand you need to keep on your radar.
