Brands to Know: Noah NYC
For over a decade, Brendon Babenzien, the founder of Noah NYC, led design for Supreme. Just as he helped Supreme grow to the global phenomenon it is today, Babenzien took inspiration from his Long Island upbringing to make Noah’s preppy style appealing to “hypebeasts.” Noah’s 2020 lookbook includes stripes, plaids, and bright colors, the majority of which could be spotted on Madmen.
The brand’s popularity is partly due to its’ outspoken political beliefs. Most recently, they released an “Australia” t-shirt, with 100% of the proceeds going to WIRES, an Australian wildlife rescue organization. However, in a riskier vain, before the 2016 election, they released t-shirts reading “Anti Nazi League” and offered Trump supporters full refunds on them.
The cornerstone of Noah is the quality of its materials, which can be seen on its website through each fabric’s thoughtful description. The brand clarifies that their “clothes are made in countries, mills and factories where tradition, expertise and human dignity take precedence over the bottom line.” This focus on quality and integrity (which seem to go hand-in-hand), when combined with Brendon Babenzien’s stylistic vision and rebellious nature, makes Noah a truly memorable brand.
