Last Minute Valentine's Day Gifts
As much as Valentine’s Day is about love and the simple joy of togetherness, you’re probably expected to show up with some kind of gift. Sure, flowers and chocolate are a classic and I know I would certainly be content if one day someone gave me those. But if for some reason you want to give your special person something a little different, here are a few ideas:
Scarf
Gifting clothing can be tricky, but scarves are hard to mess up. You can go for the timeless neutral but warm scarf, or one that is delicate with pretty colors. It’s also a good gift no matter who you’re buying for—guy, girl, whoever.
Fitness stuff (if they’re into that)
Not particularly romantic, but I feel like people who like working out can never have enough exercise-y accessories and gadgets, because it’s part of a ~lifestyle~. You could go for new sneakers if you know their size, one of those fitness band things, or a new workout outfit. You could also do a basket of different types of protein snacks.
Something homemade
This one is good if you don’t want to spend money, but you still want to show effort. If you’re a decent baker, most traditional desserts–cookies, brownies, cupcakes– are easy to make Valentine’s Day themed by adding some pink sprinkles and icing and all that. And if consider yourself more of a savory chef, you could make a nice V-day dinner like they do in the movies. I don’t know if people in real life actually do that, though.
Headphones
There is never not a need for headphones. Even if you already have a pair (or a few pairs), they seem to go missing at the worst times. I can’t think of anyone who would ever be like “ugh, more headphones? I already have some.” You can keep a pair at home, one in your bag, one in your jacket, etc.
Simple jewelry
You don’t have to go all out with this– there are a lot of basic and fairly affordable pieces that are still pretty and decent quality. Like scarves, understated jewelry is an easy way to please because it can be very neutral and appeal to a wide range of tastes. And you get the clout of saying you got them jewelry for Valentine’s Day!
And if none of these fit your needs… well, there’s always flowers and chocolate.
