Doc Films Presents: Amy

Doc Films Presents: Amy

With Halloween weekend behind us, you are probably looking forward to having a few nice, relaxing nights in. While you might be tempted to stay on your couch all weekend and re-watch Mean Girls for the 12th time, I highly recommend you head over to Doc Films instead. Located right here on the University of Chicago's campus in Ida Noyes Hall, Doc Films is a volunteer-run theater that has been showing movies since its opening in 1940. This Saturday, November 7th, Doc Films will be running a screening of Amy at 9pm. Not willing to give up your Saturday night? This incredibly touching documentary about Amy Winehouse will be playing on Sunday, November 8th at 4pm as well.

Released this past summer, Amy provides a chilling account of Amy Winehouse's rise to fame, as well as her terribly tragic death. This film is comprised of behind-the-scenes, personal footage that tells the powerfully honest truth about Amy's struggle with addiction. At the heart of it all, however, this documentary reveals what a beautiful, passionate, and talented artist Amy truly was, and what a great loss her death was to the community. Tickets go on sale for $5 half an hour before showtime.
