"Halloweekend" Costume Ideas
With Halloween falling on a Monday this year, one can assume the preceding Friday-Saturday-Sunday "Halloweekend" to be chock full of costume parties and preemptive candy eating. Keep reading for MODA's favorite pop-culture inspired costumes for this Halloween!
1. Hamilton
This might require some extensive pre-planning if you want to nail the period costumes just right, but there's little else more topically relevant to 2016 (apart from a Harambe or election inspired costume).
2. Teyana Taylor in Fade
Definitely dress this one up a little bit for the sake of public decency, but who wouldn't want to channel Fade's upgraded, 80s workout vibe? If there's an Iman Shupert in your life, all the better for a great couples costume.
3. The Final Five
Perfect for a group of friends, this costume idea is fairly low maintenance if you opt for already owned athletic clothes and DIY the gold medals. Bonus points if you add a Zac Efron look-alike into the mix.
4. Bella Hadid's 20th birthday party outfit
Disclaimer: this look is definitely not for the faint of heart and may require some extra ab workouts.
5. Ken Bone
Channeling America's favorite environmentally conscious, undecided voter will guarantee you some laughs, plus the quarter zip will keep you warm throughout the weekend's inevitably chilly temperatures.
6. Any Beyoncé outfit from her Lemonade visual album
Who wouldn't want to channel their inner Queen Bey, if only for a day? With plenty of incredible looks to choose from, the options are endless. (FYI: we recommend going sans baseball bat for the sake of safety.)
7. Zootopia
Hear us out: this is another good group idea if you and some friends are down to spice up the trademark sexy cop costume with some animal ears or face paint.
8. Yeezy diehard
If you weren't fortunate enough to snag some of Kanye's overpriced tour merchandise, you can easily sacrifice an old t-shirt and feel just like Pablo with the help of some fabric paint.
9. Any assortment of characters from the Stranger Things cast
Fairly easy to throw together last minute with a couple of friends, showing up to a party in 80s inspired geek-chic might make you feel straight out of a John Hughes movie. Cruiser bikes and/or shaving your head is definitely optional to your costume.
10. Save the Bees
The global decline of bee populations is no joke, but you can get some laughs and raise crucial awareness for an environmentally conscious cause that hits close to home.
