Where & Wear: Beatrix
Beatrix is my favorite place for brunch, and I've been to a lot of places for brunch. The ambiance is bright and warm - the perfect start to a Sunday morning. Their dishes are not only delicious but also lighter and healthier than most other brunch places! Start off with one of their fresh-squeezed juices; my favorite is the mango, orange & pineapple nectar, with blue boost (blueberry juice, white grape, and basil) as a close second.
Sometimes I just can't choose between savory and sweet, so I'll make my friends share multiple dishes with me. My favorite sweet dish is house-made Belgian style waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, but Beatrix is known for their light & fluffy lemon pancakes (which truly live up to their name). If you're looking for a savory dish, I highly recommend their steak chimichurri and eggs or the green chili enchiladas.
They have two locations, one in River North and one in Streeterville. Both have excellent service, so pick any location you'd like!
Since you're going for brunch, opt for something cute and comfy. Since it's still a little bit chilly out, layer with a warm, lighter coat such as this one from Madewell. Tuck in a henley into some jeans, and you're good to go! Or, slip into a cozy, loose sweater like this one from Kit and Ace that will be kind to your food baby.
