Where to Eat Before the MODA Show
As the date of the MODA show quickly approaches, now is the time to keep procrastinating that p-set and book reservations for before you ooh and ahh at all the fabulous designs. What better way to get yourself pumped than some tasty food and fancy drinks, right?
Here are some MODA blogger approved restaurants in The Drake's surrounding Streeterville and Gold Coast neighborhoods!
Great Food, Good Prices ($)
LuxBar
Tacos are always a good idea, and here they come in a plethora of global flavors.
Menu Highlights: Buffalo Chicken, Annatto Shredded Pork, and many more here.

Beatrix
Praised for "taste over trend," Beatrix is the perfect destination for simple ingredients and great tasting food before the show.

Doc B's Fresh Kitchen
Feeling Fancy ($$)
3 Arts Club Cafe
An aesthetic Instagram feed dream, the 3 Arts Club Cafe is located in the Restoration Hardware showrooms and furnished completely with RH designs. It is the perfect place for a quick bite, drink, or pot of tea.
Menu Highlights: Truffled Grilled Cheese, Burrata, Artisanal Prosciutto, and many more here.
1300 North Dearborn Street // First come, first serve (a.k.a. get there early!).
Pump Room
As a well known culinary icon of Chicago, The Purple Pig is one of the restaurants that sparked my desire to taste various foods outside of my comfort zone.
Menu Highlights: Pork Jowl, Smears, Loukoumades, and many more here.
500 North Michigan Avenue // First come, first serve (a.k.a. get there early!)
Jellyfish
For all my sushi loving pals out there, Jellyfish is a beautiful experience for all things fish and rice.
Menu Highlights: Lobster Mango Roll, Angry Jalapeno, and many more here.
1009 N. Rush Street // Reserve on Open Table
Major Treat Yo'self ($$$)
Le Colonial
Boasting about their menu as a "tribute to Italian cuisine - modern, refined, and beautiful in its simplicity," Spiaggia is a lovely treat-yourself experience before the show. I have been here for lunch before and can definitely testify for any of their gnocchi creations.
Menu Highlights: Carne Cruda, Risotto alla Milanese, and many more here. There is also a tasting menu if you're feeling extra fancy here.
980 N. Michigan Avenue // Reserve on Open Table
Fig & Olive
While I can personally vouch for the rich and decadent french toast and blood orange mimosa at brunch, I am currently browsing the menu and drooling as I procrastinate SOSC readings. Did someone say truffle risotto and rosemary lamb chops?
Menu Highlights: Signature Crostini, Truffle Risotto, Rosemary Lamb Chops, and many more here.
104 E. Oak St. // Reserve on Open Table
Maple & Ash
Another restaurant topping my Chicago Foodie Bucket List (read: they have a martini lounge).
Menu Highlights: Grilled Whole Branzino, Filet Minion, and even "I Don't Give a F*@K" where they bring you whatever they think you will enjoy and savor - see the full menu here.
8 W. Maple St. // Reserve here
