Lip Product of the Week: Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm
This week's featured product is a cult lip balm by French pharmacy brand Nuxe from their Rêve de Miel line, which is a skincare range for dry and sensitive skin that uses honey as the base for the products.
The Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm includes honey, vitamin E, and other soothing oils that are supposed to hydrate even the driest lips. The company recommends applying the lip balm two to three times a day for best results.
Besides the cult allure of owning this product, one unique selling-point is the matte finish, making it easier to apply other products on top without them slipping off. On a day to day basis, I don't wear colors that require this kind of base, think light pinks and nudes, but if I'm ever wearing a bright or dark lip, this is the product that I reach for before applying any color.
Personally, I think this is the best smelling lip product I own. It's sweet from the honey, but not overpowering. The slight citrus notes are also beautiful. I don't mind the smell of most lip products, but they tend to carry an artificial sent. I love this lip balm because it smells bright and energizing without feeling synthetic.
The composition of this product means that its consistency changes with different temperatures. When its warm, the product is really easy to pick up. In colder temps, I find I have to warm the product up a bit with my finger before applying it. I would actually recommend storing it in a cool place–I like putting it next to my window in the winter–because when the product is stickier, its easy to pick up way to much of it.
This lip balm costs $15, so its definitely on the pricier side, but it's one of those small indulgences that can really make a day better. I'm a sucker for luxe lip products, and this is one of my favorites. Dior's Crème de Rose is, of course, next on the list of lip balms I need to try, but I will happily use up the rest of my Rêve de Miel first!
