Style Diaries, Housing Edition: Wendt House in South
Welcome to the second post of Style Diaries, Housing Edition! Through this series, we hope to not only share an individual with a unique style on campus, but also celebrate the wonderful house culture that is on campus. Today, we are featuring Chloe from Wendt House in South!
Wendt House, located in Renee Granville-Grossman Commons (South), is home to many "Wendtlings" who call the house, home. Their house motto, "Wendt Haus Penthouse," definitely reflects the rich, unique house culture they have. Some of their interesting traditions include a Lisa Wendt Birthday Party and a trip to the Indiana Dunes, and in-House Auction, in which they raise funds for the house to use during the year! They also shoot their own Wendt House Fall Catalogue at the annual apple orchard trip, proving that they're one of the trendiest houses on campus. Also, near the holiday season, Wendtlings bust out their ugliest sweaters for their Ugly Sweater Holiday Party! The house congregates in their lounge for their bi-weekly study breaks and de-stress by playing with the resident dog, Quorra.
Now on to the Wendtling fashionista~
1. Hi Chloe! Can you introduce yourself to our readers? I was born and raised in Shanghai, and attended boarding school in Massachusetts. I’m now a first year student at UChicago. I’m thinking about majoring in Econ and Stats.
Wearing: Sweater-Aritzia; Jacket-J Crew; Leggings-Zara; Boots-Stella Dallas Vintage Store
2. How would you describe your personal style? Oversized tops. Earthy colors. Monochromatic. I also like clothing and accessories that are special, uncommon, and hard to come by. In terms of color, I like ones that aren't too commonplace, like dusty blue. Usually, when I like some color, I like having a big chunk of just that color. I also enjoy interesting material like leather. Recently, I've also gotten really into the vintage look.
Wearing: Sweater-Zara; Leggings-Calzadonia; Shoes-Christian Louboutin; Bag-Chloe; Hat-rag&bone
4. Since the holidays are basically here, are there any favorite stores or websites you would recommend our readers for some last-minute holiday shopping? ASOS has a lot of really fun, silly, and non-expensive stuff!
Wearing: Hat: AllSaints; Sweater-Wildfox; Scarf-Club Monaco; Jeans-JBrand; Shoes-Acne Studios; Bag- Valentino
A closer look at her cute sleeves and bag!
5. Last but not least, tell us about your house and anything unique that you love about it! People in my house are very chill and easy to talk to. My RA's are also super friendly. Something more random, I also enjoy the color theme of our house. It's a type of green that makes me feel at home and helps me relax after a long day of work.
We hope you enjoyed this post of Style Diaries, Housing Edition! If there is anyone you would like to nominate from your own house, please feel free to contact me at julietlee@uchicago.edu.
