Style Diaries, Housing Edition: Wallace House in Max P West

Welcome to the third post of Style Diaries, Housing Edition! Through this series, we hope to not only share an individual with a unique style on campus, but also celebrate the wonderful house culture that is on campus.

Today, we are featuring Apoorva from Wallace House in Max P!

Wallace House, the smallest House in Max Palevsky, is known for their athleticism and overall enthusiasm. They compete in almost every intramural sport offered on campus, as evidenced by the fact that they have previously won the Maroon Cup. But besides their athleticism, they have a very tight-knit House culture. They enjoy a variety of activities and traditions such as "Bachelor/Tea Time Tuesdays" and "the couch boat," in which they put two of their couches together to make a boat (apparently, it's something that only people in the House get and love!). They also take weekly zumba trips, and their study breaks are rumored to be of the highest quality. A few weeks ago, they even had customized pancakes with 5 different filling options! This House-wide love for food doesn't stop here on campus. On the second Sunday of every month, they participate in the "Second Sunday Scramble", by eating at Valois on 53rd.

Well, I guess it's now the perfect time to meet Wallace's resident fashionista!

1. Hi Apoorva! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

I'm a first year from Chicago. I hope to be a Cinema and Media studies major. I write for MODA blog. I'm also in the sorority AOII (Alpha Omicron Pi) and a staff member for MUNUC.

2. How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as preppy: city edition. I definitely love my vests and flannels, but I also like to wear things that are more chic.

We're loving the double-stranded necklace!

3. Do you have any style inspirations and if so, who are they?

My style inspiration is Kendall Jenner. She definitely has the best comfy chic style. She looks amazing and comfortable at the same time, all the time.

4. What are some of your favorite New Years resolutions or new things you’re trying out in 2016?

This year, I'm trying to write down a good memory every day and then collect them in a jar. And then at the end of the year, I get to read all of my fun memories!

5. Last but not least, tell us about your house and anything unique that you love about it!

I'm in Wallace House in Max West, and I absolutely love my house. Something unique about us as of 2 weeks ago, is that we're watching The Bachelor every week, and we created a bachelor bracket kind of like a march madness bracket.

We hope you enjoyed this post of Style Diaries, Housing EditionIf there is anyone you would like to nominate from your own house, please feel free to contact me at julietlee@uchicago.edu.
