The Beginner's Guide to Knitting
Despite last week's uncharacteristically beautiful seventy degree weather, November typically marks the beginning of the declining temperatures and darker nights (sigh!). Beat the cold this winter by channelling your inner seventy year old grandma and blanket yourself in knitted mittens, hats, and scarves galore!
Here are a couple super beginner friendly patterns to get you started this November:
Garter Stitch Chunky Mittens (Pattern)
These mittens are perfect for the beginner knitter, and ideal for keeping your hands nice and toasty in the cold Chicago months!
Cabled Headband (Pattern)
This headband is a super quick knit and is an easy intro to cable knitting. You can even modify it a bit with different cable patterns if you're feeling a bit adventurous.
Easy Chunky Knit Hat (Pattern)
Another quick knit. I think I was able to finish one in 2 hours while binging some Elementary online- highly recommend that as well! Bonus tip: using a bulkier yarn makes knitting this hat extra fast and extra warm!
Although these patterns are fairly quick and easy, here are some helpful videos depicting and further explaining the basic skills you need to cover yourself head to toe in tastefully knotted yarn.
