Chic of UChicago: Diwali

Chic of UChicago: Diwali

This year, UChicago's South Asian Student Association (SASA) threw their annual Diwali festival! Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival of the lights that is celebrated in autumn. The festival started with the Puja, a spiritual celebration, at Rockefeller Chapel and followed were performances from different South Asian Arts RSOs like Chicago Aag, Uchiago Bhangra, Chicago Raas, the UChicago South Asian Music Ensemble, and Apsara, showcasing music and dance performances. To conclude the night, everyone, participants and guests alike, lighted beautiful sparklers. During SASA's festival, many dressed in traditional Indian clothing such as the sari, ghagra choli, and salwar kameez. And here at MODA, we wanted to showcase and celebrate the rich culture and fashion of some of the UChicago student body!
