Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche Collab
Porsche continues to be one of the world’s most well-known car brands because of its focus on well-designed high-quality sports cars. The company was founded in Germany in 1931, but didn’t gain popularity until the release of the Porsche 356 in 1954. The combination of their beautifully-designed cars and success in races associated Porsche with a certain aesthetic - one that has been maintained and is evident in the Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche collaboration.
There is a lot of overlap between the car and fashion worlds, including that of a focus on design and quality. Porsche continues to be the epitome of these two elements - combining quality and design on their world-renowned sports cars. While Porsche has its own brand, which largely consists of (in my opinion, not well designed) basics containing the Porsche logo.
Aimé Leon Dore was created in 2014 by Teddy Santis and became an instant sensation, partnering with brands like Puma in just 2015. Most recently, the brand partnered with Porsche to create a capsule collection called Porsche 911 “ALD 964” which, I would argue, more accurately depicts the car manufacturer than their own brand.
The collection takes elements from Porsche’s heritage, featuring “ALD 964” embroidery and a pegasus logo. The white, grey, and green apparel is complimented with houndstooth accessories by Loro Piana, another one of my favorite brands.
All of the capsule's details, from the colors to the logo, mirror an actual Porsche that Aimé Leon Dore designed - and one I will quite definitely dream about owning.
