In Honor of Face Paint: Our Five Favorite Videos by Lisa Eldridge
World-renowned makeup artist, YouTuber, and current Creative Director of Makeup at Lancôme, Lisa Eldridge is the ultimate beauty industry insider. Through her website, YouTube videos and social media presence (check out this shoot she just did with Kendall Jenner for Vogue), she has shared incredibly in-depth content–ranging from the historical to the scientific–with the world and created a community, which she calls the House of Eldridge. Most recently, she wrote a New York Times Bestseller, Face Paint: The Story of Makeup, the ultimate coffee table book for any beauty addict, and perhaps, the first book about cosmetics of this caliber since Kevin Aucoin's Making Faces.
Face Paint has all of the stunning photos you would expect from a world-famous makeup artist, but the books true value is its telling of the history of makeup both in the lives of individuals and as an industry. The book includes sections titled "White: The Politics and Power of Pale" and "History in Your Handbag: Folk Remedies to Global Brands." Those beauty addicts who are obsessed with cultural icons will love "Makeup Muses," a series of profiles dispersed throughout the book that covers everyone from Marie Antoinette to Amy Winehouse.
In honor of her contribution to makeup history, here are our five favorite (and informative) Lisa Eldridge videos.
