The Only Makeup You Need for Sick Days

The Only Makeup You Need for Sick Days

With windchill reaching the negatives the last few days, the cold weather in Chicago is bound to catch up with some of us in the form of a cold. The best way to beat a cold, of course, is rest and lots of liquids, but most UChicago students will brave the weather and their sicknesses to go to class. When most of us get a cold, we look tired and the color from our faces is gone, but no one wants to put on a full face of makeup on sick days. Here are the three quick and easy makeup products you should use to look and feel alive and put together!

Step 1-Concealer

Use a brightening concealer under your eyes to brighten up your face, especially if you haven't gotten enough sleep. Try applying the product in a triangle underneath your eye and blending it out. If you don't have a runny nose, try applying a thicker concealer around the edges of your nose to remove any redness. For a drugstore option, we like the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer ($9).

Step 2-Mascara

No one wants to put an full eye-look when their sick, so stick to the basics and use a volumizing or lengthening mascara to help your eyes look more open and awake. The L'Oréal Voluminous mascara ($8) is one of our favorites. We especially like the carbon-black waterproof version.

Step 3-Blush

Perhaps the most important step in combating the sick look. Make sure to apply some cream or powder blush (we love cream blushes in the winter, especially for dry skin) to the apples of your cheeks to add some color back into your face. Dust any extra product onto your forehead and chin! For cream blushes, the Tarte Cheek Stains ($30) are a bit of a splurge, but they are beautiful. We love plummy rose and sheer berry for the winter!
